The Connection Between Your Body and Your Brain

Have you ever heard that yoga could help connect your mind and body? Well, this is true. Your mind and body’s relationship are a significant link between the hips and emotions. Even when you’re stressed, your emotional and physical health can suffer. In addition, people who are known to have anxiety, depression, or trauma often experience physical symptoms as well. The association between the two is the hips. Of course, each body is diverse, and one person holds stress in their body may not be specifically the same for another.

Getting to know your hips

The largest joints of your body are the hips. They are the most unique joints in the human body, mainly because it is responsible for holding your weight, stabilizing the core, and moving the upper leg. When your hips are tight, your body has less mobility. This pain can also hinder daily activities like walking and going up steps. Having poor posture can, too, cause misalignment of both head and neck. This demonstrates how important the hips are concerning how the entire body functions. That is why it is important to stretch and work out your hips, and a great way to do that is through exercising, doing yoga, or even getting body massages.

How emotions get stored in your body

Researchers have observed how emotions can become stored in the body. It is a known fact that your physical body can change depending on a person’s feelings. Scientists suggest that emotions are electrochemical cues that carry emotional messages throughout our bodies. They are then stored within our body and mind. This can impact activity in the brain and change the cell to either have a positive or negative influence on the body.

The connection between the emotions and the hips

Certain emotions are associated with different body areas. After understanding that, we can begin to understand the connection between both our emotions and the body. What is even more interesting is knowing it’s linked to how you relate to your emotions and the emotions of others.

How to release emotions through the hips

Practicing certain exercises is a great way to release tension in the hips and get the entire body moving. These practices also can release stress, trauma, and fear.

Some good options include:

  • Somatic exercises
  • Yoga
  • Stretching
  • Massages
  • Dance
  • Pilates
  • Tai Chi
